When making a decision, the most importantly factor you are going to consider is PEACE in your heart or spirit.
The Bible says in Psalm 85:8:
I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly. (Emphasis added)
God speaks the language of PEACE.
At the point you’re making a decision, you may be in between two opinions; should you go right or left, should you choose A, B or C, there are always options to consider.
But here’s it; the choice you eventually make will be tested with the witness of peace in your heart.
If you choose A and then you lose your peace, then forget it, you have just made the wrong choice.
But if you choose A and then you have peace like a river in your spirit, you feel good about the decision, then you are on course.

You don’t need all that.
Well, God can give you all that if you have not been able to pick up His voice of peace after a while.
But that in itself is a sure sign that you are not familiar with your Father, you are not spending quality time in His presence through prayer, fellowship and study of the word to know Him well.
Otherwise, you should not have such problems.
Get to know your Father now, so that when it’s time to make decisions, you will not be running from one mountain to another all because you want Him speak to you.

How God’s Voice Comes To You
There are so many ways God speaks to His children, now it may be well for us to look at the most common ones in a bid to understanding how to hear God’s voice when making a decision.

God’s voice is not complicated, it is clear, concise and precise.

After all, it is one of the characteristics of the Spirit-filled life for these last days as prophesied by the prophet Joel.
But I beg to say that dreams from God are clear and straight forward and do not need you fasting or going counselling or seeking dream interpreters to know the meaning of the dream and what God is saying.
When God gives you a dream in answer to your prayer for direction, it will come clear and if there is any thing you do not understand about the dream, the voice and witness of the Holy Spirit in your heart will make it clear to you the moment you are out of the dream.
God is not complicated and does not take pride in hiding in codes what He knows will help you make decisions that will better your life and his kingdom.
3. The Audible Voice of the Spirit
God will speak to you about a decision audibly if and when He chooses to.
But this is not the most primary and common way He speaks, leads and guide His children.
When you are attentive to the still small voice, He will not need to shout before you hear Him.

4. His Servants and Prophets
God does speak specifics through prophets and His ministers, but this usually comes to confirm what He has already spoken to your heart through the inward witness.
So, this is not absolute.
That’s why you have to be careful about what prophets and other seers say to you.
You will have to judge what they say is from God through the witness the Holy Spirit has already given you.
Hey, be careful not to go looking for prophets to hear God for you, a lot of people have missed it big time doing this; after all, you can hear your Father for yourself.
5. Through circumstances
Well, this is on the extreme.
Why would God speak to you through circumstances – the hard way, when He is loving and would ordinary walk with you in love?
Well, some persons force Him to through their disobedience.
Don’t wait for God to speak to you through circumstances, walk in obedience and you will always enjoy His voice of peace.
6. His Written Word
God does speak to believers through His word.
When the Holy Spirit pulls a scripture passage, verse or verses out of the Bible, making it visible and louder than usual to you, that’s God speaking to you through His word.

God is always talking and speaking but a lot of Christians are too clouded with things that they don’t hear Him clearly.
Here are some things that you will need to check in order to clearly hear God’s voice when making a decision.
1. Anxiety
Anxiety and worry will stop your spiritual ears from picking up God’s voice, so avoid anxiety by all means.
Do what God said to do with it; cast it upon Him (1 Peter 5:7, NIV, and Philippians 4:6, NIV)
2. Fear
Fear blocks the flow of God to and or through you.
It is faith in the negative and without faith you cannot please God, you cannot hear Him.
It takes faith to settle on what you feel in your heart as God speaking to you.

3. Confusion
God cannot help a confused person.
Settle it in your heart and God will take the haze away.
If you are confused right now; pray and ask the Lord to take confusion of the heart away from you right now.

4. Hopelessness
The gospel fosters hope.
When you’re despair and hopeless, God’s voice cannot get to you.
Let me put this way; despair of heart, makes the heart unreceptive and deaf to the voice of God.
